Everything you need to know about magnet fishing
As the name suggests, magnetic fishing involves fishing with a line that is equipped with very strong magnets instead of a conventional fishing line and hook. Self-explanatory, these have a high adhesive force. The magnets are also known as search, neodymium, mountain or search magnets.
Compared to probe users, who also need a metal detector, magnetic fishermen can obtain suitable equipment relatively cheaply.
Magnetic fishing, of course, is not about fishing fish. Magnetic anglers are also not based on live fish, but on metallic objects that were lost on the seabed. You can fish for valuable treasures ranging from military items to coins to other valuable collectors' items.
However, the chance of a magnetic angler fishing a treasure chest filled up to the top is very low. In addition, the probability or the multitude of loot pieces of mountain magnets is very high. These can be, for example, old bicycles, rusted fasteners but also historical objects from one of the world wars. Objects from World War II can be badges. It also happens that magnetic fishermen find safes. However, these are rarely filled.
What is needed for magnetic fishing? It is not much needed for magnetic fishing. These are the necessary equipment: Of course, a magnet, preferably with high adhesive strength. You also need a transport box and a rope. The power of the magnet is an essential criterion for magnetic fishing, which is why the selection of the right magnet is very important. To fish relatively heavy objects out of the water, not all magnets such as refrigerator magnets, fly screen magnets or refrigerator magnets are suitable. A neodymium magnet, also called a super- and mountain magnet, is used in magnetic fishing. This magnet is capable of lifting up to a hundred kilos.
For a magnet, be sure to: In the case of traction, the higher the better. Because if the magnet sticks to an object that weighs more than 100 kilos, it is difficult to get it out of the water. If you then want to save the magnet, you have to dive. A force of 150 kg is sufficient. However, the larger the size of the magnet, the better, because with the size, the tightening surface also increases. The shape, whether round or angular, can be neglected. As a rope, you cannot use a conventional fishing line due to the high tensile forces. The rope should of course correspond to the pulling force of the magnet. Otherwise, the rope can rip when fishing out. The rope should be between 15 and 20 meters long. With an even longer rope, handling is difficult. The diameter of the rope should be a maximum of 10mm, otherwise it will be too heavy when you suck water.
